Bond Project Update

High School Site

At Spring Lake Park High School, what had been known as the Blue Gym has now become the new game gym or performance gym with a 50 percent increase in seating capacity. That portion of Phase I has now been completed, and the gym is already being used as a multiple teaching station throughout the school day.

Phase I of the high school project also consisted of a new band room, choir room, and multi purpose jazz band room to support spaces for music. When completed in December, students will enjoy a new multi purpose wrestling room and a new multi teaching auxiliary gym, as well as a weight room and a fitness room, and men’s and women’s athletic and physical education lockers. The additional gym space is essential for physical education programs during the day, as well as the expanded extracurricular activities programs after school.

An additional advantage is that the district now has the ability to annually hold the commencement ceremony on campus, regardless of the weather, because the gymnasiums will have enough added capacity, and they will also be equipped with appropriate audiovisual capabilities.
