Public can learn more about the budget process, provide feedback
Mar. 10, 2010
Spring Lake Park, MN
The Spring Lake Park School District will host a public meeting on Wednesday, March 17 for the public to learn more about the budget reduction process to date, and to provide feedback. The meeting is at 6:30 pm in the District Services Center, 1415 81st Avenue NE, Spring Lake Park.

Participants will hear a presentation that details current budget reality, emerging influences, and approach to the current proposal for identifying $2.3 million in budget reductions and modifications as part of the 2010-2011 budget planning and development process.

Following the presentation, those in attendance will have the opportunity to provide feedback regarding the identified budget modification approach, as well as assist the planning by identifying potential positive and negative implications. "When any change is implemented," Dr. Ronneberg said, "no matter what it is, a series of consequences and implications will follow, both positive and negative."

This feedback process will allow members of the public "to help guide planning and purposeful allocation of resources," according to Dr. Ronneberg, "that will result in positioning the district to make effective decisions now and in the future, with a focus always on improving student learning."

Those interested but unable to attend the meeting, can view a similar presentation of the proposed modifications as well as offer feedback on the current budget approach by completing a brief online survey
