Mock Trial - General Information

Description of sport/activity: The Minnesota High School Mock Trial Program is an exciting law-related education program that introduces students to the American legal system and provides a challenging opportunity for personal growth and achievement. As part of the mock trial program, your students will exercise their critical thinking and teamwork skills, as well as the basic skills learned in the classroom.

Length of season: November - late February
Practice and/or meeting times: Meetings are typically after school from 2:30-5:30. Because the structure of Mock Trial focuses on individual work, practice times are flexible to allow intensive practice times for different members of the team.
Practice and/or meeting location: All meetings will begin in room 516, but may be moved to other rooms to accommodate a courtroom setting.
Competition/Performances: Invitationals and Regional Competitions
Eligibility requirements: Open for grades 9-12
Average number of members: 15
Costs and/or needed equipment: Activities fee
Awards criteria & type of awards: Students will have the opportunity to letter in Mock Trial if appropriate criteria is met.
Student leadership: Students are encouraged to promote the program by helping to identify and develop younger Mock Trial members.
