Coed Cross Country - General Information
 

Name of Activity:

Cross Country Running/Coed

Description of sport/activity:

Boys and girls in grades 7-12 who compete in running races. Most of the meets are on golf courses and some are at schools and parks. We train in a variety of ways including: running, biking, pool workouts, and an array of conditioning games.

Length of season:

Mid August to early November (about 12 weeks)

Practice and/or meeting times:

3:30-5:30 Monday through Friday; 8:30am on Saturdays (grades 10-12 only)

Practice and/or meeting location:

Spring Lake Park Pool Door Entrance. Saturdays are off Campus.

Competition/Performances:

Varsity boys: 5K. Varsity girls: 4K. MS runners shorter. See schedule.

Eligibility requirements:

Meet MSHSL, SLP school district, and team eligibility requirements. Pay the activities fee to your athletic office/physicals need to be current.

Average number of members:

40

Costs and/or needed equipment:

Activities fee. A good pair of running shoes (be sure to get fitted for the correct pair of shoes.  Any running store can help and may give you a discount if you tell them you are on the team), appropriate clothing, and a watch with a stop watch. (possibly spikes and a HR monitor)

Awards criteria & type of awards:

All conference/All state/Region and conference academic awards. Lettering requirements determined by head coach. A copy of the requirements is available online.
Student leadership:
Captains are selected at the end of the previous season.
